KUALA LUMPUR Feb 5 - Police suspects Norhanani Yahya, whose highly decomposed body was found near Semenyih Dam in Hulu Langat three days ago, to be a victim of a kidnap gang.
Kajang District CID Chief DSP Zainuddin Ahmad said police was investigating the murder of the 30-year-old bank clerk from various angles including that she and her three-year-old son might have been kidnapped.
The kidnappers may have decided to kill her after they failed to get ransom from the family, he told Bernama.
Zainuddin said police have made some progress on the case but declined to elaborate.
He said the post-mortem report showed Norhanani died of serious head injuries probably inflicted by a hard object.
A passer-by found Norhanani's body after seeing her son Mohd Fauzan Naim Sufian walking alone aimlessly along Jalan Sungai Tekali on Saturday.
Norhanani lived with her parents in Ampang after being separated from her husband. She was last seen alive when she picked up Fauzan from a nursery near her house on Jan 28.
Her disappearance came to light on Sunday when her former husband, who works as an engineer and lives in Perak, read a report accompanied with a picture of a boy in a newspaper.
He rushed to Hulu Langat where he met his son and lodged a missing persons report.
Zainuddin said police had interviewed Norhanani's relatives and close friends whom they believe could assist them in establishing the motive for the killing.
"We have yet to interview Norhanani's parents who are now in Mecca to perform the haj," he said.
He urged the public with information on the murder to contact Kajang district police headquarters at 03-87362222.
MEANWHILE at another crime scene, police found the bodies of two men, one of which was highly decomposed, in separate incidents in KLUANG.
Kluang OCPD ACP Abdul Aziz Ariffin said a body was found by the public in a bush at Batu 19, Jalan Kluang-Kahang at 5 pm Tuesday. The body was yet to be identified.
Abdul Aziz said the man aged between 28 and 35 years was about 5ft 6in tall and had short black hair. He was dressed in a short-sleeve T-shirt and wore "Lee"-brand shoes.
Earlier on Jan 26, police found another decomposed body of a man, behind an empty house in Kampung Nesa here. No document were found at the scene.
Both the bodies were sent to the district hospital for post-mortem.
Abdul Aziz requested for those with information on the matter, or anyone missing a family member, to contact district CID chief ASP Sulaiman A. Hamid at 07-772 2222 ext 6125 or 07-774 2222.
